Success!

1 min read
My prior journal entry lured out a Beetle species I had not ever seen here, but had really wanted to find.

Beetles, Dragonflies, Turtles, and maybe some Cats.

That is pretty much all I photograph.

This time of year is when I'm usually most active with my photography, and most of my uploads(assuming I submit any more beyond the five I did today, lol inactivity) will likely be of various Dragonflies around the pond. The Blue Dashers are sociable, but the other five or six species are too elusive for me to even manage to identify via a single in-focus shot, let alone get submission-quality. Nevertheless, should opportunity present, I often have my camera with me when looking for them.

Other fauna that may present photographic opportunity include Great Blue Herons(Have yet to have one hold still long enough for a picture), two unidentified Goliath beetle species(so far), Barred Owls(photographing these is pretty much a crapshoot), Yellow-Bellied Slider pond turtles, Common Snapping Turtles, Eastern Box Turtles, numerous color and variety of stray domestic cats, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Goldfinches, Red-Breasted Hummingbirds, Mockingbirds, some manner of Hawk I haven't pinned down just yet, Golden Orb-Weaver Spiders, and a few species of moth I need to research.

If anyone reads this and would like to see any possible not-quite-as-detailed pictures of the afforementioned fauna, post.

Every morning or so, I'm checking the pond, around the garden, etc. from the hours of 6:30 AM to Noon for decent photograph opportunities. I will need to check earlier to get a picture of the Armadillo living next to our porch, however... otherwise, so far it has been paying off. I've yet to get a submission-quality picture of the baby turtles living in the pond, but I do have about three dozen distant pictures of them. They're skittish and don't like to come up to the pier.

I'm submitting old pictures, and I may begin taking occasional nature photographs and uploading them, as the area I live in is rather swarmed in opportunity.

I may not because I'm rather swarmed in lazy, though.
